Hey hey! I’m back today with another holiday drink recipe! This one is relatively similar to my last drink post for my homemade Peppermint Mocha however it is perfect for those of you who aren’t really big fans of hot beverages. This drink is also perfect if it is a little warmer where you live, but you still want to get in the holiday spirit!
This inspiration behind this drink was very similar to my previous one; I was craving something pepperminty (because Christmas, duh) but I was really not in the mood to leave my house. I realize this may make me sound super lazy, but when I wake up at 8 am on my day off, all I want to do is sip my Peppermint Mocha and watch Home Alone.. or The Grinch.. or Elf.. Also, one of my favorite things about Starbucks are their chocolate chunks you can add to your Frappuccino. Peppermint Java Chip Frappuccino’s from Starbucks are literally my favorite, and this is my take on one of those!
I used the same peppermint bark candies that I used in my hot peppermint mocha, in this drink. However I only used a few because I also used candy canes and chocolate as well. You can use chocolate chips, or any other kind of chocolate you want but I had a Mocha Scharffenberger bar in my cabinet (I do work for Hershey, what do you expect) and I thought that was a great way to get some added coffee flavor in there. That definitely isn’t enough coffee for me, so I also throw some instant coffee in there as well. You can use freshly brewed coffee and let it cool, or use Iced Coffee and either of those will work perfectly fine, however I like my fraps on the thicker side, so I try to use the least amount of liquid as possible. Also, I’m too impatient to wait for hot coffee to cool, and I would end up using the hot coffee and it would melt my frap and I would be sad.
Since nothing, and I mean nothing, about this drink is healthy, I like to take it one step further and of course top it with whipped cream, crushed candy canes and chocolate shavings. You don’t need to add those toppings but I mean come on, it is Christmas!
Homemade Peppermint Mocha Chip Frap
- 3 Peppermint Bark Candies- roughly chopped
- ¼ Chocolate bar- I used Scharffenberger Mocha. Roughly chopped
*chop the candy depending on your blender speed.. you still want there to be little chocolately chunks so if you have a high power chop it up less, or maybe not at all. Likewise, if your blender isn’t as powerful, maybe chop up your candy a little more.
- 2-3 TBSP Instant Coffee
- 1 cup milk
- ¾ cup ice
- Whipped cream (optional)
- Candy canes (optional)
- Chocolate shavings (optional)
- Chop your peppermint candies/candy canes and/or chocolate
- Add everything except for ice to the blender & blend for a couple seconds
- Add ice, continue to blend
- Pour in your favorite glass and top with whipped cream & anything else your little heart desires 😉
I hope you guys enjoyed another holiday drink recipe! Let me know if there are any other specific “Christmasy” posts you would want to see! Also, stay tuned for lots more Holiday fun!
